Local Challenge Expeditions

When we arrived at Jeffrey's Bay on the 1st of June, we felt we had lost opportunities of adventure and experiencing Jesus in the nations- because we came back home six months too early. We were hit by the harsh reality of covid-19 regulations, being unable to greet our global community whom we last saw at the beginning of March.
One thing we re-discovered is that we need to be more flexible and that God is using us in ways we couldn't have planned for or even imagined. We had to let Jesus drive while we followed in the passenger seat.

Upon arrival we were grouped into smaller teams and sent out to local points to serve. We helped at BeatsandBooks, an aftercare for kids. We helped implement and organize a library system and planted a beautiful vegetable garden that, in the near future, will help with a healthy diet for the communities kids. It has been the biggest joy to create meaningful relationships and encourage the staff there working all year round.

At PastaCo we packed food parcels for underprivileged communities and it was an eye opening experience! To help behind the scenes but not being involved on the mission field while handing out the parcels was humbling and really exposed our hearts and pointed us to the servant heart of Jesus.

We also repainted the play area at Global Junction. We transformed it into a vibrant and colourful room full of creative patterns and pictures.

At Global Leadership Academy we welcomed the kids to their exams every day at a check-point with the procedures set in place by the school. It was wonderful to see stress for exams reduce by just a smile and an overflow of Jesus joy within us.

The boys went to the Transkei on a weeks outreach. We as girls stayed in JBay and unexpectedly experienced a lot of spiritual warfare while interceding in prayer for the guys as they were building a water tank in a remote area. In this time we pressed into prayer and God really showed us His heart for unity and community within our teams.

God used our time in Jeffrey's Bay to create such a strong unity in our group, equipping us to minister to people as a united force making us a tool in God's hands to spread the the Gospel through Jesus' grace and strength and Holy Spirits' guidance.

It has been such an awesome time being back, even better than what we could've imagined. God has been working on each of us personally, and showing us that He is the same here as He is in the nations.
