The Good News

Global Challenge. Sharing the good news with a world in need. What a good salespitch!

Training has been amazing: learning and discovering a whole lot of things about God, dying to self, His Story, myself and my teammates. We're also busy with teachings on how to actually spread the gospel, moving from the idealistic salespitch to genuine tools and approaches.

Learning to strike up conversations with "I'm part of a search and rescue team, saving the lost" and "I'm a body-builder, building the body of Christ" to actually sharing  the story of our Saviour giving the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Our first experience of this was an assignment to share the gospel with a tree on the campsite. Although feeling totally ridiculous and a bit crazy, I trust that my tree has been converted to walk in the light! :)

Things got a bit more serious though, and by the afternoon we were sent out into the streets of JBay... For someone that hates asking people for the time  of day this was quite a challenge! But thank God for the Holy Spirit and brothers and sisters in faith - what a liberating experience to expectantly strike up conversations and trust in the guidance of the Spirit! Finding a painter in an old shop that is really struggling with a lot of things, seeing his surprise when his toothache gets healed (and me laughing out of joy) and experiencing what it means to really embody Christ in a conversation - what an awesome God.  I'm still learning though, my second experience was a bit more forced, but I'm expectantly awaiting more growth in this year!

Sharing the gospel is not meant to be challenging. Romans 1:16 "For I'm not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes." Realising that the gospel should be a part of our lifestyle. Expectantly awaiting a divine appointment whether we're in the nations, busy with our 8-5 job, stopping at the grocery store etc. Actively seeking out opportunities. Trusting in the power of the God of the message. Now that's the challenge! Bring it on :)
