Since my last blog so much has happened. I cannot tell it all. One of the top moments for me was when we watched the sun set over the old city from Mt. Olives and when a Muslim said the words he wants to show his family the Bible. He gave his heat to Christ moments after!!
We came to a point where we said we want to pray more, and then everything started like crazy. The team go closer together and the focus of growing in yourself shifted to reaching out to others. In Bethlehem there was a day that gave me so much joy. I went for a walk alone in the town. I said to God I know He can give me what I ask, but I want to do what He has on His mind for me. So I was just walking and following the hints that God set on my path. After a while I came to this cross road, the church where I should go back to is to the left. The road forward is more downhill so the climb back is going to be even longer. For some reason going to the right wasn’t in my mind.
2 thoughts went through my head. Go closer to home and go forward and trust me. So I went state and in the first yard a young man sat making pots. He called me over and said I must sit down. I knew this is where God wanted me so I just went with it. His father came out and called me in the house. The offered me lunch and gave me coffee and tea. We could not understand each other at all. Mining and the translations of his 9 year old daughter was our way of trying to say something. I said to God that I really need to way to talk to him. Sure enough… they brought out a laptop. Google translate was working so that we could talk a bit. (Fun fact: Friend in Arabic is the same as a type of dog)
I showed him my blog about hitch hiking in Canada, and translated it to Arabic. He didn’t read it all, but every word helps. On my way back a couple of kids tried to pick pocket me and it that moment I was not in a worldly mind. I wasn’t angry of frightened. I laughed and ask my hacky sack back and then started to play with them. It took them a while to understand the game Ninja but they had fun messing it up more that the game itself.
