Preparing for take-off...
((This blog SHOULD have been posted before we left SA, but the website kept kicking me out... he he he! - edit))
To say that we have had a great time in preparation for GCEX'09 would be the understatement of the year. God has been faithful in so many ways, it is impossible to report it all.
Our two weeks of retreat in the Transkei was a magnificent breakaway from the pace and clutter that is Jeffrey's Bay. Beautiful, tranquil – what a lovely part of the country this is. We took some time evaluating our world views on issues like money, sex and power, and spent a lot of time in the Word to discover the meaning, parameters and significance of God's Kingdom.
During our time in Transkei, the guys left for a day to help out at a christian school in Coffee Bay, about an hour's drive from Mdumbi, where we stayed. There we worked a little (building repairs and gardening) and ministered to about 60 kids at an evening gathering. One from our group, Marnus turned pastor for the occasion, brining the Word in a great way.
A marathon journey on the train <sigh!> brought us to Pretoria, for our final stage of preparation at Alabanza. Enter a very humble, but very much anointed Scotsman, Joe Ewen, for a truly inspiring and challenging time of study around the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Oh, if we were but to experience “church” the way God intended
it, we would see the world change!!
So, the bags are packed, and, except for a quick in and out at the Russian Consulate and the Indian embassy, it's off to Egypt on the evening of the 24th!
