Building of lives...and buildings

Way up in the mountain with an awesome view over Lake Atitlan, we had the opportunity to build a house for a family.

Over the course of the week we had several tasks to complete. We had to build steps that lead to the house, the new building and build up a wall to prevent further erosion by the water coming down from the mountain. The first day on site started out by collecting stones of various sizes from all over the mountain to start with the first steps while some of the others started to work on the building. Throughout the week we completed nearly everything and only needed to return for two days the next week to finish up.

On the first day we noticed the little girl that lives there, curiously peeking around the wall at us. We started talking to her and noticed that she’s suffering from an illness and heard that it is epilepsy. She desired a lot of attention and love, a kind of love that she usually never gets. We all loved her so much and were more inspired to do a great job with the building, now that you realize the need and can imagine the joy on the faces of the family when the building is completed.

A lot of time and fasting were dedicated for the family. We prayed that they would come to know Christ and for the healing of the little girl and her father, who also suffers from epilepsy. God did another miracle again: the family gave their hearts to Christ! We are still praying and believing that the little girl and her father will be healed. Praise God!

Please remember the little girl and her father in your prayers,

Elzet
