We are the Pathfinders

We are the Pathfinders

We have spent the past two weeks passionately exploring, encountering and experiencing God's grace....

We started our journey with a challenge, J-bay 2 Joburg.....please see the Orange Team blog for more information on that :-) here after we made our way to Egypt.

We have spent a week in Egypt, WHAT AN EYE-OPENER!! Cairo was an experience on its own...very dirty and chaotic.
Then the Garbage City and the Garbage City Church was a highlight - this is exactly as the names states, a church built years ago in the dumps because the Christians were chased out of the city.  This was like a little piece of heaven in what felt like a very disordered city, with kids playing & laughing, friendly people around every corner and some peace and quiet.

We climbed Mount Sinai, WOW WOW WOW!! In the middle of the desert is this massive mountain range…..the Sinai Mountains. This was so beautiful!!!  It was so incredible to think this is the real, the actual mountain where God gave Mosses the 10 commandments.  From the top I could see all the other mountain tops….amazing beautiful, breathtaking, indescribable….and most of all….God is bigger than all of this!!!  I was just reminded of how big and amazing God really is and how easily we limit Him.

Then we explored Israel.  Jerusalem took my breath away!!  It was incredible to visit all the historic places…I just can not get my head around the fact that these are the real places where Jesus once walked.  We also went deeper into the Promised Land: Jericho, Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Dead sea, Masada ect.  I thank God for an amazing experience, and also that He kept reminding us that it is not all about the sightseeing but about the fact that He is real.  It was awesome to study the scriptures, do an overview of the Bible history and visiting these sights at the same time.

Today we arrived in Portugal.  Here we will start serving the people of Massama, a suburb of Lisbon.  Please keep us in your prayers during this time!!  We trust God to use us and to open the hearts of the people that we will encounter in the next week in Portugal!!

I will be in touch shortly….

Etly
