The Hammam
So the two lovely South African ladies that organized our stay in Casablanca arranged for us that is those who wanted to, to have a truly Moroccan bath.
So with a lot of excitement and a bit of anxiety we went to have a bath.
On arrival the girls go one way and we guys the other. We, the guys, are ushered into a steam room and told to wait. (Not understanding the language this took some gesturing from two of the locals for us to finally understand.)
After some time, we were called out of the steam room and each of us has an attendant who shows us to our torture beds (this we realized later).
On the bed, we got scrubbed with an exfoliation glove, bought at reception. The exfoliation feels as if someone is using an industrial sander all over your entire body. Having been scrubbed, the attendant uses generous amounts of shower gel to soup your body.
Then of to the shower for a quick rinse and out to get dressed.
Apart from the grass burns on the inside of my right arm, on the left of my torso and the back of both my legs, it was wonderful.
So apart from the slight discomfort, it was worth it. Would I do it again? The answer is undoubtedly yes.
As they say, no pain no gain!
