Barefoot in Kenya

Barefoot In Kenya

I wrote a poem about Africa. Unfortunately for some and fortunately for others, it is in Afrikaans. I did consider translating the poem but it just wouldn’t be the same. So I’ll put it in the next seperate blog post if you want to read it. I’ll post it right after this one.

There is much to say about a lot of things.

I like to think think think and sometimes I sink in my think, but when I let the Holy Spirit breathe into my thoughts it feels like I’m floating on my back on the ocean in my mind, and it’s a nice day for swimming.

The time in Kenya flipped my world around so I’ll share what I loved in Kenya. I loved it because I saw God in it all, all the time.

I loved running through the forest barefoot. I loved spending nights around the campfire. I loved being disconnected from the normal world. I loved the most exhilarating Masai church service. I loved the joy in the children’s eyes and I loved to hear them laugh. I loved the day I turned 19 and had flapjacks and a dance party. I loved having my feet washed by someone I look up to. I loved hearing my friend’s testimony and receiving a word from God for her. I loved a letter for my birthday. I loved walking through lush green fields. I loved swinging from a real Tarzan tree rope. I loved a dream I had one night that changed me. I loved Masai braai. I loved late night busrides and ponderings. And I honestly loved oats.
