The past 2 weeks, we've been on our Luke 10 journey within Senegal. We were sent out by our leaders, as Jesus sent out the disciples according to passage in Luke 10. Beforehand though we had to ask ourselves Questions such as: Jesus where do you want us to go? Father how do you want us to apply the Scripture within this journey ? And thereafter we had to actually go and apply what we felt the Lord lead us to do?
We eventually decided to take a road to Diana, a small town near a river. Lead mainly by psalm 23, and the Fathers guidance , we trusted that the Lord would bring us to a place were we could minister to people. I believe that God speaks to us in our hearts circumstances ext. As we were lead , we thus climbed on a bus to . After a waiting period of 2 hours and 30 minutes ( ….African Time,
oh boy!) , we eventually took of, arriving 14 hours later at the first destination, with little money and no accommodation. The Lord quickly provided our first women of peace though, that took us into her house. Here we lived with a family for 2 days. During our stay ,by God's mercy and grace a few of the team members could lead a young man to the Lord in prayer. Its was heart breaking to see that one of the children were disabled. We prayed on a regular basis for the children and for this child .
After a While we had to continue our journey, traveling away from the town we were at to the next town: Dialokoto. Here we also were quickly invited into the next village, to stay with some of the local people. During the next day or 2 the SA elections was being counted. Being in a country other , than your own , away from news, pushed me to really trust God! It was hard for me not to know what was going on in SA. Every night we would use a radio and trie to get BBC's signal, in a attempt to
get a update. When our work was done here we moved on , as Luke 10 says we should. Eventually we ended up at a next village , sleeping at a local church.
From here we had to catch the train to Bamako,Mali. Climbing on that train the next night really stretched me. The passenger area was packed with food, everywhere there was stacks of rice, bottles of Mayonnaise ,cookies ext. Everything that you wouldn't dream of putting on a passenger train! We actually had to sit on top of all the food, as we traveled for about a day. These people were actually making a living of the products that they transported with them to Bamako,Mali. In South-Africa I think we never really realize what we have, were quick to complain about services. These people don't have options. Its the world they live in and they can't complain, they just have to accept the hand that is dealt to them. Above all else they need to risk, many trains have derailed in the past Lets me think about life. How much am I willing
to risk to do what God asks of me? When he speaks do I trust that ,this is His plan and that I don't have to worry ? (even when it means climbing on a scummy train).
