Mountain top encounters

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Walking through open doors and abseiling into vastness.

Chasing the quiet

Sitting atop a building in the Middle East, with intimidating hills staring at me from a distance, I wonder why we're, most of the time, rushed..? The hopeless running after things which are seemingly thought to be unseen, though we can measure its worth by just an up and down look. Nice jewellery by the way...

It spills over into more of us, I mean, aren't we sometimes like that with God, such a desperate searching for deeper and more. But actually when we rush Him and get frustrated, its more about us than Him. And more - things don't normally happen in our time.
Although we know spiritual things are mostly unseen, we seek to see the 'rewards' for our works. What should change? What different view can we take?

I tend to sometimes see things more clearly as I take a deep breath, a step back and view the broader spectrum of the plan which is taking shape. Ultimately this is ideal when I do it out of a place of rest. Understanding deepens and, as if, all of a sudden, the 'rushness' almost fades and calm comes. The picture may not at all be pretty or what I expect to see but in this place I can give over to the One Who has eternal perspective over all. The One Who sketched and orchestrated everything in that picture correctly according to His plans.

So then I take heart, trust and seek the quiet more frequently. If He is in it, no sound will ever be more beautiful...
