WHAT IF???

Written by: Mari Jansen van Rensburg

You always think "what if", what if I've taken that trip, what if I'd only said yes. At the beginning of Global Challenge I had the same question - but God didn't wait on me to be ready - He just came and did what I didn't think would be possible. He changed my life, inside out!!!!

I grew up in a christian home and for that I am very grateful. But more than ever He is just revealing Himself to me in so many ways. I am going to share one incident with you and maybe you will take the "what if" in anyway:-)

We were serving in a school for underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We worked quite hard - from the mornings round 07:00 to sometimes 23:00 at night - there I realized what it is to surrender completely.  They have a class for the toddlers from 1 and a half to 4 years old and I volunteered to help them out. During that time the teacher (3 months pregnant) got some bad news back from the doctor suggested that they should consider a termination, for the child can cause the mother to die or the child will be dead by birth. I took over her class when she went from doctor to doctor for advice.

In the class there is almost every 3 weeks a new child this time of year and it wasn't any different when I was there. So one of the boys cried through the first week and didn't want to have anything to do with me, but I just kept on giving him my all and tried to make him part of the class. Then one afternoon after lunch, when every child should go and have a shower and a nap, Kavinash came to me, sat on my lap and gave my the biggest smile I could've ever asked for.

What if I didn't accept God's call on my life and didn't see the Lord work through the smile of a 3year old boy!!! What if I didn't give God a chance in my life? Have you given God a chance in your life - trust me, it is more than worth it!!!
