That we may know Him...this is our only desire.
Africa, my Africa
In this place corruption brews in governments, injustice flows through the rifles of child soldiers and poverty strikes the poorest of poor.
Yet beauty abounds in its sprawling jungles, mighty desert dunes and raging rivers; is evident in the eyes of the humble farmer, the joyful singing of the women and the innocent actions of the locals.
That we may know Him...
We have been exposed to different ways of thinking and living, we saw the crippling effects of poverty and disease and searched God’s heart for answers to these problems.
We learnt to live God’s love in places where He is unknown. We battled our own mindsets and prejudice. We bowed our knees in awe of who God is, begging for His Kingdom to be established in Africa. We got our hands dirty and made our hearts vulnerable, giving who we are and dream to be; showing the lost that there is hope and a future in Christ Jesus.
That we may know Him...
We fought with truth, prayer, love and justice. We fought to set the captives free.
It was hot, it was dirty. It was at some stages dangerous. We were tired. Our hearts broke. We were inspired. We learnt to love in spite of ourselves. We discovered God’s heart for the poor and lost. We saw how small we really are. We served and loved our fellow Africans. We gave ourselves in service and found ourselves in Christ.
We explored Africa and found Him at work everywhere we went.
And after all of this we want to say as in Luke 17.. we are unworthy servants, we have only done our duty.
That we may know Him...
