14 February 2008 - Red Hill
Yesterday we said that we can’t wait to see what God was going to do today. Nothing of course
prepared us for what happened.
We had already spent almost R40 000 on material for the township and needed to spend about another R30 000 to get most of the residents of the ground.
A lot of the money spent we hadn’t received yet but came from our budget which is suppose to go for different projects.
This morning as we started our day Floyd invited all of us to listen to the Holy Spirit and hear what amount he is laying on our hearts to give. Because we first have to open our hearts before we can expect others to give.
From the group of 66 people we pledged R70 000! In ten minutes we had all the money to cover our expenses.
And these aren’t rich people. Every single one of them is a missionary. Isn’t it surprising how the poorest people are more eager to give? It always amazes me.
Then through the day a truck arrived carrying a huge load of wood beams. We didn’t order it but a church was supplying one of their members in the community. He however only needed a few beams and gave the rest to the community.
Consequently today was probably the day we handed out the most material including donated blankets, clothes and food parcels.
It’s
wonderful to see how the Lord provides.
Meanwhile the work in the community has become so part of our daily lives we can’t imagine what we would do otherwise. Everyday we spend 8-9 hours in the area working with the community.
It’s great!
