Hi there wonderful people! So as we are now officially on our global challenge (am actually sitting in Qatar airport near Saudi Arabia), and it has been about 7 weeks since we actually started, I thought it was about time that I maybe introduce myself and kick off the blogging madness…
Me: ok I’m a 23 year old occupational therapist that’s life has been turned upside down and inside out by the incredible grace of God! I the word of God love music, and people more than my own life. Our Dad gave me a heart for missions when I was in grade 11 and since then that passion has grown. I spent the last year of my life doing my community service year in Manguzi, KZN in a rural hospital (so rural that it was four hours from the nearest shopping mall). I was introduced to global challenge by a friend of the missionary couple in the community in November last year, and so began the GCEX madness and the most incredible display of God’s faithfulness!
Feeling lead to quit my job as God asked me to trust Him and take a leap of faith(before I even received the nod from the global leadership ) I learned a valuable lesson: that when you trust that God is who He says He is and does what He says He’ll do then we will walk on impossibilities. A week later I received the call into a whole new world! Now all I needed was a 60 % deposit of R87 000 and within two weeks God had provided R66 000 for me to embark on this adventure (how crazy is that?). This not only confirmed His incredible faithfulness and provision but also that I was walking in His will! This for me is so huge because there is nothing more that I want in life than to know that I am walking in all that God has planned for meAnd my what a plan it is and has been.
After 7 weeks of intense training where we were challenged to the core physically, emotionally and spiritually; where we were forced to reevaluate who we were, what we believe and how this should mould us, I can honestly say that the truth has set me free. The gospel is great news! Not only did Jesus die to wash away my sins, but He rose from the dead and when He did that gave me an identity and inheritance. I am a child of God and have the authority that He does (I mean that is incredible, that the King of the universe would take a disgusting human being like me and place me at His right hand –if you don’t believe me read eph 2:1-10). The crazy thing is that is not all… my God also gave me a purpose, one that was planned before He even created the world, and is now being fulfilled as I listen to his voice and follow in His footsteps. EPIC! How could you not love such an incredible God!
So as I sit here on this airport bench and think of what’s in store I have to actually keep myself from exploding with excitement, God has raised me up in His grace like a wave and all I want to do is crash onto the shore of life with all that I am so that He will get the Glory!
My prayer for this journey is that God would blow my mind, break my heart an open my ears and eyes so that I can learn to love like He loves! LOVE WITH NO LIMITS
