An appeal for funds for the orphanage in India.
"Aunty, Aunty!" the little girl shouts as she runs towards me.
"For you Aunty!"I would never take what the tiny hand is holding out. It's a piece of fruit, a suppertime a treat we bought for the children in our first few days at the Emmanuel childrens home.
"No, Pari. It's for you. You must eat it." I bent down to help her peal it, returning the grin as she munched happily away.
Pari is just one of the few hundred Indian children at the childrens home where we've been for the past week. They range in age from 5 or 6 to about 15 years in age. Their circumstances differ: some are orphans, others were abandaned or come from homes where poverty and the number of children found them neglected.
The children live together in the orphanage where they are taught of the love and goodness of God... and live in the kind of prayerful faith and generosity (the incident withPari was not an isolated one) that would overcome so many of the problems that created the need for the orphanage in the first place.
We would love to be able to treat the children a little more while we are here: to buy them some fruit, make them a special meal, give them some new games and books...and fund the restoration work that we have begun on one of their buildings.
To do this we are appealing for your help. I do not wish to lay any guilt or pressure other than to sincerely ask that, if you are able, you share whatever you can to help us in our financial needs for this project.
Financial details can be found on the website, please reference "South India".
Thank you in advance for your generosity, if purely in your prayers.
