The People of the Himalaya

Himalayas The road north, leads towards the mountains and it is long, narrow and winding.  The "horn honking" method of passing traffic and keeping safe echo's in my ear as a resounding gong.

The billboards in Delhi describe the greatness and beauty of India and the strong words describe their passion for their country.  I have always referred to the traffic as incredible but when I reached the valley of the Himalayas I exclaimed; INDESCRIBABLE!

The hills and valleys stretch as far as the eyes can see and its colors are arranged from; green to dark green, dark blue to grey and black.

Terraces have been built here for hundreds of years and changes the hills into effective farming plains and rice fields.

planting rice The woman dresses in bright red, pink and orange sari's and decorates the green fields with joy.  They dedicate their lives and time to prepare, work and produce the best rice, food for their family.  The lush green rice plants are the contrast to the brown soil, like the smiles on the peoples face.

The backdrop of this beautiful view is the mighty mountains.  The Himalayas cover the expanse of the horizon.  The snow that covers it clothes the mountain with royalty.  These mountains are amazing, strong and they stand, immovable and to bring glory to God. This is God's beauty.

Standing on top of the hill I am overwhelmed by the hopelessness that covers the valley like the clouds that cover the high peaks.  All these beautiful people have never heard the message and they don' t know!

Romans 10:14-15

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?  And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?  And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?  And how can they preach unless they are sent?  As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

PRAY:

· Pray that God will send workers into the field; harvesters and followers of Jesus.

· Pray that from the north to the south the people will know and serve Jesus Christ.

· Pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the heart of these mountain people to receive the word of God.

· Pray that these people will not die without hearing the truth once!!!!

terasse There is a stirring in my heart and I experience God is challenging me to respond to the call of these people that live without hope. I believe God is looking for people who a willing to come to these mountains and walk and share and establish His church!  I want to respond to that call!!!

In Christ
