Explore Africa Expedition
We are a team of 7 young people embarking on a mission to travel and serve in different parts of North, East and West Africa. At the heart of our mission to serve in Africa, we seek to see Christ made known in our continent. We will travel through 13 countries from March 2011 and will return to South Africa in November 2011. During this time we will be serving the poor, sharing the good news of Christ and studying the scriptures. In order to make this journey possible, each member needs to raise up to R75,400 for the year. A profile of each team member is displayed below.
Opportunity to support and sponsor is available throughout the duration of the journey. We are however faced with the huge challenge of raising R 75000 before we leave next week Friday(5th March) to Tunisia. Should we fail to raise this amount some of our team member may not be able to leave with the team. We are however trusting that the Lord will provide the necassary funds. We would really love and appreciate your support and have you as part of this journey. My name is Stoffel and I will be leading the Explore Africa journey in 2011. This will be my 2nd year with GCEX as I participated in one of the 2010 expeditions. I am very excited about the journey that the Lord is going to take me on as we share his Good news and serve the people of this great continent. I know that God loves Africa and believe that he is going to give me a greater comprehension of his heart for Africa this year. I invite you to join me as I step out on this journey of faith.
I'm Jamie-Lee, I come from White River, Mpumalanga. I heard of Global Challenge middle 2010 and applied. To my great surprise I was accepted! So here I am now, almost ready to embark on an amazing faith journey through Africa of trusting God, touching nations, and growing to be who He's destined for me to be.
I am Joy Apollis, a 30 year old teacher who has been living in Jeffreys Bay for the past 7 years. In 2010 God challenged me to take a leap of faith even though I did not know what to do or where to go. I decided to quit my job and follow where he leads and he has led me to Explore Africa. Trusting God and being fully dependent on him has been one of the most challenging but liberating decisions I had ever made. I believe God put our team together and I am so excited about how he will use and teach us this year.
Hi, my name is Hendrik Roux and I finished matric in 2010. My prayer to God was that He would lead my life and show me the way forward. I heard about GCEX through a friend and I checked it out. When I saw the videos of the 2010 Expedition, I knew this was for me.
Hello, my name is Abel Richard and I am from Pretoria. I have been involved in Mission work for four years. I am very excited about the Nations that God is sending us to this year. In 2008 God gave me a heart for the Muslim community and I am therefore looking forward to serving in the predominantly Muslim nations through this journey.
My name is Emme Buhrmann and I grew up in Pretoria. I believe God has called me to ministry especially women’s ministry. I have been blessed with a passion for Africa. In 2008 I had the privilege of traveling overland up to Kenya with my family for four months and I believe The Lord was preparing my heart for this year even then. I am inexplicably excited to see what the Lord is going to do this year and I am already astounded by how He has worked thus far.
Hi, I am Kagiso and I am from Botswana. I am embarking on an adventure to get to know God's heart for people through service and mission across Africa. I believe that through this journey I will have a valuable experience in which I will be blessed for the purpose of blessing many. I therefore invite you to be part of this amazing journey.
Greetings
The Explore Africa
