The people who stole part of my heart in Arusha...
Anjelista (Angel), our local vegetable seller and her family - Elijas, Bagite and Esther
It was more than just buying vegetables.
Angel's shyness and embarrassment of that first day we choose her tiny wooden shack to buy vegetables was turned into smiles and laughter as we returned there to support her day after day. Every time we talked a little more until our visits to her shop turned into the moments that lit up both her face and mine for the day.
Our relationship grew into a friendship I will always hold dear. She helped me with Swahili and I helped her with English. She invited me into her house and there we shared God's word and photos and stories. On the last day I visited them, her two girls
bubbled with joy and they couldn't stop singing the tunes we taught them at the kids' programmes at church each day.
And this was just one of the families that crept into my heart during our month in Arusha. It was truly a blessed time!
