Obviously in this year God not only teaches me about Himself in my life, but He teaches me His heart towards different aspects in my life. For example, my husband.
As a girl I had a list, a very unfair list, about my husband. He had to love family, want children, be a business man, earn a lot of money, etc. Now my list changed to this: He has to be a man of God. Everything will turn out for the best if this is a truth, because if he searches for God's will then he will find it. Because then He will love family and children. And our money will be what God decides to give us, and he will have the career in where God wants to use him.
Marriad people always have a 'that is what you say now'-grin and their eyes say: 'Wait until you see their faults.'
When you love someone unconditionally, it means you don't expect them to change. It is unfair to set a standard. Do you believe in God? Do you believe in Him enough to believe in the power of prayer? Do you believe that God will finish the good work He has started in you and that also counts for your spouse? God loves unconditionally, and He asks the same of us. I want my husband to know that I will love him. That does not include an I will love him IF or WHEN I will probably try and fail continuesly, but I will be able to do it with my eyes set on God's love and I will keep on trying.
Why?
Because I trust God to tell me who my husband is. That means that I hold on to our marriage, not because of anything he does, but because my God, who already wrote my life story, told me that my husband is the man that I am suppose to love for my whole life, until death do us part.
I don't know how you feel about what I just said, but for me first of all, it takes a lot of pressure off of me to try and 'find' my husband because it's not in my hands and it takes pressure off of your husband to try and 'earn' your love.
In a marriage God teaches us what unconditional love is. Don't be afraid to love. Because God is love. You should not get it from an outside source, because it will never satisfy you and it will never last.
P.S. Unconditional love counts for every and any relationshi.
