Follow me to Central and South America as I journey to get to know the Father and Son and learn to become surrendered.

Security?

Romans 5:3-4
but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

I love every process that I am in, because I trust in God! I want to share with you what God is teaching me at the moment. It's profound.

I have been putting false security in many things in life. I placed it in friends, and when they weren't there I felt alone. I placed it in money, without it I felt stripped and unable. Without clothes I felt less worthy. Without a car I felt like a nuisance. Without the right weight I felt ugly. Without a message from my family and friends I felt unloved. Without an income I felt poor. Without a honors degree I felt unqualified. Without a plan for next year I felt lost and confused.

My favourite quote at the moment: Graham Cooke -
There's no security in what God is doing. There's only security in who God is.

What if you placed your security in anything other than Jesus? Things change so easily. An insurance company can be wealthy, but then a storm hits the buildings it insures. A wife can have a husband, "until death do them part". A man can have a great job, but the business needs to let some people go. A boy can be the next Olympic 400m record breaker, until a drunk driver hits his car and he is paralysed. A girl can be a Top Model, until she is caught in an accident fire. When it's gone, what's left?

There's a verse in the Bible saying that love casts out all fear. The thing is that when we place more confidence in anything else but Jesus, then we are unable to love the way God wants us to love. We start living in fear of losing what we love because we put security in them. We get anxiety and depression and lose trust and faith.

God wants us to have security in Him, alone. There is so much excitement in having confidence in God. He never changes, yet He never stops surprising us. It's always an adventure, but with the best guarantee that it will all work out. Holding on to God's promises is joyful.

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
