Global Challenge Missions Blog Archive: These are real blogs, from real people, bringing real change...

And we have lift off! wYw

The big day has arrived and here is our first blog as promised.  If you do not know yet, we as the work Your way team are going to blog every day for the month of May. This way you become part of our journey and experience our adventures with us.  All you have to do is to pledge to donate any amount per blog and help us to do what we do.  “What do you do?” you are asking, well read further and find out.

We arrived in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, on the 29th of April.  We took the bus from the airport to the central bus station and after a brief walk booked ourselves in at a backpackers in China town (the cheapest).

For the past day or 2 we have been resting after India, catching up on “ internet work”, reading, writing, reflecting and checking out the local markets.

As it is Sunday today, we decided to start the day with a teaching.  We watched Rob Bell’s Everything is Spiritual, a brilliant sermon.  Our discussion led us to the conclusion that if we ever thought that we are huge and God is someone trivial, well then we were seriously mistaken.

Breakfast consisted of 2 loaves of bread (5 slices each) and jam.  Hmmm.  Lunch was some local food in the Chinese market around the corner from where we stay.  We decided that since it was day 1 of the Blog Challenge that we would get some good food.  At the time of writing, we haven’t had supper yet, but bread would probably be on the menu.  We mainly drink water, but some guys have found vanilla Coke, so they are abusing it at the moment.

We got the chance to speak to an 11 year old Malay boy while hanging out at McDonald’s.  The WiFi is free! He came here with his mom and two sisters for supper.  They look of some Indian descent and might possibly be Hindus.  Check out the video for more on him and our day.
