(Hi everyone! This blog was suposed to be posted yesterday, but due to some unforeseen circumstances we are only able to post it today.)
We are in Phuket!! If you wondered why there was no blog yesterday, it was because we travelled and only arrived late in Phuket.
Stephan and the people that we stayed at in Hatyai blessed us tremendously with accommodation, but it was more than just a bed, Stephan actually moved out of his flat for a day or two just to accommodate us. We will be forever thankful for his hospitality.
A songtou (a bakkie with benches on the back) took us from the centre of Hatyai to the nr 4 Highway that led us to Phattalung, Trang, Krabi, Phangnga and into Phuket. Hitch hiking was wet, but easy this time round with both smaller teams travelling the 500km in less than 8 hours. God blessed us
immensely as He always does.
Henro, De Necker and Welman were dropped in the centre of Phuket Town at about 20h00. Taxis to Karon Beach (our rendezvous) were 600 Bhat, way more than what they planned on paying. They decided to get accommodation in the Town and start afresh in the morning. On On Hotel was their chosen place of rest and supper was rice noodles or “spajelly” (spaghetti and jelly) as they aptly named it.
Philip, Bernard, Angelo and Freddy got dropped at a destination somewhere outside of town where accommodation was a bit harder to find. They eventually settled for some quite expensive rooms as it was the only place they could find. At least this allowed Freddy to watch the Heineken Cup final, so he was happy.
This morning both teams made it to Karon Beach, one on the bus and the other via a hitched lift. We reunited on the beach and made our way to the back streets to look for cheap accommodation. After
trying a few places, we found Peter and Marita’s guest house. They are a Swedish couple who are letting us stay in a huge room with one double bed and ample space on the floor for all seven of us to sleep. We also have our own bathroom, a fridge, kettle and aircon for only 500Baht per night. They showed us to places with cheap food and gave us water as well. May God bless them for blessing us this much.
We had a very cool session in the room where we shared from the word and we prayed about our time here in Phuket. This was very blessed and after sorting out logistics, we were off to the beach for a long awaited swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The green hills, white beaches and turquoise water definitely tick all the boxes for being paradise. What a privilege!
It is Sunday, so we are going to have a little Bible Study session tonight. 2 Pet 1:5-7 is the chosen passage. We trust that God will reveal all His
secrets to us. Join us in dissecting the passage.
Enjoy the video!
