Some More Thai (wYw)

The team was quite slow to wake this morning at 06h30.  This was the result of a late night because of a little night swimming… if you know what I mean.  There are definitely advantages to being an all boys team.

After the usual routine of quiet time, prayer and breakfast (2-minute noodles and coffee) we had a reflection session.  De Necker urged the guys to go to their journals and to reflect on their expectations for the year.  Which have come to pass and which are still to be dealt with?  How have we grown, where are the areas still to grow in and what are our dreams and desires?

Everyone seems to be going through a time of soul searching and this helped a lot.  Most of us still have to think and pray into this a bit, but I think everyone has started thinking in that direction.  Issues range from things and hurts from the past, not being able to release or forgive, plans for the future or moral standards for living the Christian life.
After this session everyone did his own thing for a while.  Some rented scooters and drove along the windy roads crossing over the lush green hills lifting them into the air to have breathtaking views straight from Heaven.  Phuket just never ceases to amaze with its natural beauty.  Wow!

We had a “local” lunch… again.  Bread with condensed milk or noodles are the usual options.  Water quenches the thirst.  Some guys wash their grub down with green Fanta or a coffee and Cornettos are pretty cheap, so the guys don’t hold back on them either.

During the afternoon we studied 2 Peter 1:3-11 especially verses 5-7.  It was awesome to see how God came into our midst and revealed to us what was hidden to our worldly eyes.  There was a huge amount of info to process, but essentially it says in verse 9 that if you do not grow according to what is said in verses 5-7, then you have no clue of what you are saved from and do not understand salvation.  A point to ponder on.

The whole team went for a swim at sunset.  It’s such a treat swimming in the warm waters and watching the sun set with the silhouette of a fishing trawler on the horizon.  As close to perfect as you can get.  I love being able to see God through His creation.  I’m sure He was smiling as we stood and stared in amazement.

Tonight we decided to bless our landlords.  Peter had to work, so it was Marieta and the team at supper.  Welman and Angelo cooked up a storm.  Supper was potatoes with mayo and vienna sausages complimented with mango.  We had a great meal and Marieta seemed to relish the opportunity to chat to her guests.  It felt great to be able to bless someone else for a change.  We started to feel guilty for being blessed so much and not being able to do so in return, so this was awesome.  Freely you have received, freely you must give.

We have not found any people here yet that we felt God had put on our hearts to bless by letting them stay with us, so for that reason we felt that why not bless the people that we do have around us and share with them.  Maybe that is what He had in mind after all.  He is full of surprises.

Catch us tomorrow as we live another glorious day in God’s presence.
