We arrived all happy in Barbados since a place to stay has been provided and someone to pick us up at the airport, but then Barbados immigration did not want to let us in the country since we did not have an address where we were staying. In the end Maxine had to go with the main man to arrivals so they could speak to the Sybil that was picking us up so we could prove that we have a place to stay. After that eventful start we got to the place were we would be staying and it was...
Trinidad and Tobago So finally we are on the plane from Caracas after all the crazy that was Venezuela, and then the dreaded announcement “can everyone please go back to their seats and put on their safety belts, we need to make an emergency landing”, tum tum tum. No not true. Actually our flight was very chill, the only excitement was to have English air hostess again. The first leg of our flight took us to Trinidad that has a big airport. The second leg of our flight went to Georgetown Guyana, but the flight was delayed with 2...
Just 2 days?? When I think back I can't believe it was just 2 days that we were in Venezuela, so much happened. The story starts on the bus, the 11 of us got on the bus to Caracas (Capital city of Venezuela) round noon on the 12 May not knowing anyone there or where we are going or having the right papers and the situation as described in the “The next step??” section of the previous blog. http://www.gcex.org/participants/latest-blogs/entry/fred-euvrard/colombia-v2-5-santa-martha.html Then some of the team starts speaking to some of the other passengers and found out that the there...
First 4 days Well as stated in the last blog, in stead of going to Venezuela we ended up going to Santa Martha in Columbia. We got on the bus and for a nice relaxing 20h bus ride to Santa Martha. We were met by pastor Julio and Jon a missionary of the church that we were put in contact with. We were blessed with our own 3 bedroom apartment that we could stay in for the first week for free and they had a programme planned out. We started the first few days with some kids ministry in the...

Greetings from Columbia What we been up to: We got into Columbia by walking from Tabatinga (in Brazil) to Leticia (in Columbia), since it is actually just one town spread across the border there is no real border control. Our passports only got stamped at the airport. We spent most of the day in the Leticia airport and there were not a lot going on in there, there is not even an ATM or place to exchange money, but the man at the cafe (the only open store) allowed us to pay in Brazilian Real. The flight was good and...
I made a video of my Sao Paulo, but have trouble uploading so you will need to wait a bit for that update. Sao Paulo Airport experience: The flight from Sao Paulo was very early and the airport far out of the city and this meant that we had to sleep the night in the airport. This was the teams first sleep in airport experience (but not the last). At about 2 am 2 guys from Chile ended up at our corner looking for help. Since Luiza in our team is from Brazil she offered her help and I went...
To say the last 2 ish weeks of training was interesting is as bit of an understatement. But training is done and I am getting the last of my things together since we are lifting of on Tuesday 5 March, so exciting times. "Short" ordered account Training went into the focus on the Holy Spirit with Oom Gerrie coming to visit us. I was excited and scared before we started since I always saw "radical" Holy Spirit experiences as a bit weird, but wanted to know more. Dr Gerrie van den Haas is a medical doctor, but is walking in...
