Daily Bread In Malaysia

Our Father in heaven May your name be kept holy May your Kingdom come soon May your will be done on earth As it is in heaven Give us today the food we need And forgive us our sins As we have forgiven those who sin against us And don’t let us yield to temptation But rescue us from the evil one     This was the single prayer in my heart as we landed at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Malaysia-East a few weeks ago in June. As a pioneering country, I will lie if I say that...

Where is the love...

People kill, and people are dying
Children hurt, can you hear them crying?
Do we practice what we preach,
Or do we turn the other cheek?
Father Father, help us
Send some guidance from above
‘Cause people got me questioning,
Where is the love?

Incredible India!

Everything in and about India is incredible.  The splendour of the landscape, the majesty of historic and modern buildings, the culture, the buzz of tuc-tucs and rickshaws, and everything in between.  Incredible are the people, the sights, the smells and tastes.  But just as everything is incredibly good and magnificent, so are those same things and experiences incredibly bad.  India is a mixing pot of every imaginable sense – sight, taste, smell, feeling - a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences!

Our group of 6 people starts our challenge without any clear clue of what to do. All we...

Destination: Transkei

Destination: Transkei
From 'blikskud' (fundraising) to sanding and painting walls;  taking of old roofs and replacing it with a brand new one;  from tents blowing away (and leaking!) to evangelising and building relationships;  from chasing pigs and running away from snakes to riding in taxis packed to the roof . . . 2 weeks in the Transkei had it all and even so much more!!!   2 Weeks ago we left the comfort of our base camp in Jeffrey's Bay, heading to Coffee Bay in the Transkei.  On our way there we had to stop over in Port Elizabeth to raise more funds (‘blikskud’) to...

Going Overboard!

It’s the last week before heading down to Jeffrey’s Bay:  preparing, packing, making final arrangements, saying goodbyes, eating way to much of my mother’s food, dealing with emotions (mostly those of my parents) …  All of this in just a few days!  But the thing that keeps me preoccupied for the most of these last days, are my (lacking) funds for the year – who will help me with it, how much will they give, what more do I have to do?  Then it hit me, practice what you preach, and go overboard!   Yes, you heard right, go overboard! ...
