My team and I served at aftercare for kids. There I met the lady, Aunty Waai, who runs the aftercare and who is also a proud grandmother.
Her passion and eagerness to pray for physical healing caught my attention. One of the very first conversations I had with her she testified about how her one of her prayers was to be healed from cancer and how God has answered her. She prayed with such persistence and perseverance which stirred a desire in my own heart for having faith as strong as she has. the time she spent in the hospital to receive treatment she used as an opportunity to lovingly serve God and share hope to people around her. In her way of telling her story she shines the light on God's faithfulness through the hard times and humbly glorifying His name alone. I really admire the way she interacts with the kids and never says no to join in on a game. Her heart is so willing and her age does not hold her back.
It has been the biggest joy to build a friendship with her and with the other people put along on our path.
Another favorite memory is when my teammates and I held a bible study with the women we met during our stay on the farm, Aunt Waai included. We all got together and sitting in a big circle we studied and discussed a piece of scripture. praying together and sharing some of own testimonies in that time bonded our hearts together. it felt like family from the start. I think it is so so special the way our hearts could connect and relate, no matter our different ages, races, or backgrounds.
Our time with this closely knitted family came to an end with a joyful dance under the shade of a tree and the sun shining in on the yard, despite the cloudy day. My heart is to remember and see, the quiet way through which God whispers to us. I don't want to miss the testimony and miracle in everyday living. I want to find the adventure in it all, wonders big and small.
It is so precious to be a part of the body of Christ so that even when we are not together we are still connected through Him. :)
