Zithulele

Last year I was apart part of Global challenge and I knew Jesus wanted me to do a second year, but I didn't know how it was going to look like.

On the 1st of March we left for Zithulele Transkei. Our team volunteered at the various NGO's for a month. The drive there was beautiful, full of excitement and expectations for what this small rural place in the middle of nowhere might hold for us.

My biggest dream is to be a full time missionary in the underground churches in Iran. I always had this perfect Idea of how it looked like but my vision changed when I got a taste of how the mission life actually functions.

The lifestyle in Zithulele is busy days, filled with never ending work. Making time to spend with your family is barely existen, but in some way they make it work. We were there for a month and we were so tired every night.

Our second sunday in the Transkei I got news that my grandmother had passed away. It was very hard because I didn't know she was sick. I didn't feel the need to go home and because of that I felt the attacks was so much bigger. I was in such a vulnerable place and the devil took the opportunity to plant lies into my head.

Isaiah 40:29

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."

Through all the hard times Jesus revealed to me that the strength I had needed to stand up in the mornings was not my own but only the strength of God.

My dream is still alive but I will remember that things are not always rainbows and sunshine and to dependent on God to give you the strength is essential not only when times are hard but to trust Him that He carries you through everything
