Sitting in a church in Lapu Lapu, Philippines, that used a mall as a venue, I was distracted by the play area for children next to where I was sitting. My attention was grabbed by a chubby little girl, playing. She was so beautiful and it gave me so much pleasure, observing her trying out the different play equipment, how she enjoyed jumping on the trampoline even though she fell more than she actually jumped. And when she tried something new and got hurt, her mom was right there to comfort her. Looking at this little girl God revealed something to me about how He sees us. This puts being God's child in a whole new light for me. I have always thought that when God calls us his children, he's talking about grown up children. But what if he means that we are little children through his eyes. He says in Matthew 19:14 to his deciples "let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these". I can just imagine how God finds pleasure in the things we do. I can see him smiling at me when I am snorkeling and descovering a whole new world that He created that I never know exsist. Or when I meet one of his children and we have a great conversation. I can just imagine how he enjoys it when we descover new things about him. And just like the mother with the little girl in the play area who leaves her girl to exoplore and try new things, knowing that her little girl might get hurt, but always being close to comfort her. Just like that God leaves us to explore and make choises and try new things, knowing that we might get hurt in the process. But just like with the little girl he is always there to comfort us when we need him. If I see my realationship with God like the relationship between the Little girl and her mom it makes sence that God will tell us not to worry about tomorrow (mathew 6). Little children are only concerned about the here and now, taking things second by second, descovering, learning, growing, knowing that their mother is right there when they need them. This knowledge makes us brave and eager to discover the fullness God has to offer. What a privalage to be Gods little girl.
