Cambodia

We had the privledge...ney...the honour of visiting the city of Phnom Phen in Cambodia as a pioneering effort for the one year journey since eighty days has got December months sorted. We as silver team with Donovan and Hanna as well as special guest Clara was introduced to seven different types of ministries in Phnom Phen and contacts was made with Philipino missionaries who all invited us to their island in future.
How about an east island challenge in future?

The seven ministries:
1 Teach english at Ch'bar m'pou school
Every evening the tuk tuk drivers came and picked us up for the twenty minute drive to the school where all of us had a class to attend to. Some with local teachers some without, teaching was difficult since understanding is limited so any true english teachers with a heart for the nation of Cambodia you have plenty of hard work to do.

2 Cell group in Ch'bar m' pou
We spent our mornings at home cell groups in various conditions from very poor to rather nice and comfortable. It was expected of us to share what we felt led to share and to encourage the local believers to keep growing in the Lord. Since many can't read Cambodia needs workers to go into the fields to do the work for our God for the fields are ready...

3 Youth ministry at Daun Penh
This was a fun filled day, we visited the young teens fellowship and after praise and worship we just shared what has been going on in our lives this year and we all had testimonies to share of God's glory and faithfulness. It was very intresting to hear their stories and encouraging to see their hunger for the Lord. Also i was challenged how the youth stand up and take challenges that faces their community like getting involved in projects such as caring for disabled people.

4 Water of Life project
Small children ministry where we did a little skid and teaching and just had fun playing with the kids and did some colouring of David and Goliath. It is also where we met Mordegai and Toinette missionaries doing medical work, who could easily make use of some extra hands in taking care of the health of Cambodias villiage people.

5 American - Cambodian ministry
We had a morning visit with Cambodian men who had spent most of their life in America and had lives their with wifes and kids. Due to braking the law in some way they got deported because of the new laws in America with regards to refugee's. The sad thing is that they are not accepted by their own people and they struggle to get into the community and find work. Pastor Rob does amazing work with them and once again plenty of oppertunity to get involved with.

6 Widow island
The government build an island for widows, so they stay on the island where they are not a burden to the rest of the community. The Philopino missionaries we met are very involved here and takes a boat out to the island once a week to go and minister and take care of needs as far as they are capable off.

7 The village
We met Alta who runs Veritas in Cambodia and she took us out to this very remote village an hour out from Phnom Phen by tuk tuk and then another hour in a banana boat. Their we attended church and like the custom in Cambodia we also had lunch. The silver team did a little song and dance for the children and heard how Sok the first believer in the village came to Christ and how it changed his life in dramatic fashion from being ill all the tiome to being a healthy man.

Cambodia has many challenges, including looking like the Free state...flat...just more so, it is however encouraging that their are so many active ministries on the go and growing and they need our prayers and hands and feet to assist in the work they are doing.

Thank you for a great time Cambodia...may God bless you

Greetings from silver
