Luke 10 part 1: The long road

Before Luke 10 started, we talked in the big group with De Necker about misconceptions that we might have about the Luke 10. We realized that it is not to go out and see how God provides for us. It is to go out and to do God's will. It is to follow His instructions with out distractions and at any cost. It is to serve people and share the love that God put in us with the people on the way.

We started of at a town on the East coast. After praying, God gave us Deuteronomy 8:7-9

"For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper."

We looked on a map and found a place with hills and a lake so we set of hitch hiking. It was a long way from where we were and it was small roads that lead there. Everybody said it couldn't be done, and that we should take a bus. One thing is for sure, God loves to do things that humans think are impossible. We traveled 140km on the first day to Muazam and slept there on a soccer stadium for the night. The next morning we got a lifts to the lake. We used the lake as a general direction, so we decided to go to where our next lift ends. so we told to the driver that he should take us to where he is going, unknowing where that might be. He dropped us at a bus station of some town, we had no idea where we are in Malaysia. We slept in the car so we are not even sure how far we drove.

We didn't know if we should turn left or wright. That is when we prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to lead us where he wanted us. We started to walk and Rueben went left. I trusted him and followed, the next intersection we both paused and looked at each other and knew we should go right. The next turn was the same. Then we got to a long road, I saw a Nissan dealership and said we should go there and ask for a map. So that we can find out where we are, Rueben agreed. Later Rueben told me this: He prayed that God would show him a "L" for left and a "R" for right. He opened his eyes and saw a "L", at the next stop he saw a "R" and same with the next one. Then he saw a "L", but the road was straight. The Nissan dealership was on the left of the road.

The people at the Nissan dealership helped us by drawing a map and giving us an idea of where we were. We didn't want to leave because we know God sent us there for more than that. I head the Lord telling me to ask the boss about the pineapples that he puts on this small temple thing. (He is chines). We talked a bit and we were talking about people that say there is only one God and things like that. I asked him if there is any churches nearby. Then his friend shows up. Rueben and I knew this is the man we have been waiting for. He offered us to take us to the churches and show us around. He gave us lunch and then invited us to drive +-210km to the East coast  with him and come back the next day. He had to go for a hospital check up in the morning. He dropped us off at his friends house while he Finnish work. The friend took us to an elephant park and opened his house for us. We had a nice shower there. The lady gave us a cream after she saw my foot. (My foot got a bit of a wound just before Luke 10, I tried to get a coconut by climbing up the tree.) We used that cream for any thing! We knew it was from God so we put it on bug bites and wounds, as soon as anything can get a cream we used it. And every thing got healed. My foot is still in the healing proses.

That night we drove to the East coast. We had a great talk to the man. He is an Indian and his wife is a "christian". She doesn't have a Bible and she is not going to church. He encourages her to go to church but she doesn't want to go. I had the change of going threw the hole God story with him. I also said he should go to church with his wife and see if that helps. He liked the idea so I pray that it will work out. He didn't ask a lot of questions but he listened the whole time. When he dropped us of at a guest house, we asked if we can pray for him. He is was going to the hospital because he had fluid in his lunges and possible hart problems. We prayed for healing and went to bed. The next morning just before he picked us up, we went for a swim in a resort's pool. That was one of the first things we did on Luke 10 that rely built the relationship between Rueben and me. Needless to say, the doctors cleared our friend and said that there is nothing wrong with him. The only thing that was off, was cholesterol. He dropped us at a gas station just outside of the town where we met him.

On our way to Muazam on the first day, we got a lift from a small fish truck. We sat outside on the back and couldn't talk to the people. I saw the fish and got hungry for a while and was thinking the whole time how nice to would be if they take us to a cool place to sleep and give us a nice fish so that we can braai it... Not once did I think of how to reach them. Not once did I think of a way how to serve them. I was thinking about me needs, my comfort and my desires. I was thinking about how God should proved for us and not asking God what we can do to help them or show them His love.

That night God reviled to me that even thou we spoke about it, I still had a misconception on the Luke 10. I repented than night and felt so bad. The next morning I told Rueben what had happened to me. He went throw the same type of thing. It was so cool. The rest of the Luke 10 was also just like that. We needed to learn the same things and every thing worked together so perfectly as if the trip was planned before we even  born...O...wait..., it was. That is also one of the things I came to realize a bit better. God's planning is mind blowing!

SP: Sneak Peek - Luke 10 Part 2

In a small town 2 men wondered the streets, not knowing where God will send them next. They thought they were ready for anything, but little did we know that God has something planned that changed their life for ever. A love was bestowed on them so that they can love others regardless of what the person has done, but just love them because God loves them.

I praise the Lord for your testimony, because it strengthens the faith of the parents too. I prayed constantly for the two of you that God will reveal His will to you, lead you and teach you what He wants you to learn. I know the other moms also prayed fervently.
