Before Luke 10 I often wondered what is the hardest part was going to be. I found a lot of options like 'no money', 'no food', 'sleeping on the streets' and 'not knowing were to go'. Looking back I am 100% sure that the hardest part is 'coming back and trying to share the experience with others'.
I can easily compare Luke 10 with a thick book.
It is filled with characters you meet as you turn the pages, some just playing a small part, others you get to know on a deeper level and see a lot of growth in their life. It also has interesting events, funny little twists, highs, lows and a whole chapter on faith.
I would have liked to invite you to turn the pages of our Luke 10 book with us – but due to technology's influence in this case - I'll rather ask you to scroll through the pages with us as we share our Picture chapter
with you.
Introducing our team:
Name: Andre Name: Kim &
nbsp; Name: Marlene
Lost in translation name: Andrew Lost in translation name: Emi or Amy
Our destination:
Taichung. While praying for Luke 10 a few days before the adventure started, one of our team members received the name Taichung – not knowing what it means, if it was a person's name, street name or shop we started to look for it on the map. It turned out to be a region of the Island Taiwan and right in the center of it was our destination Taichung City.
Traveling:
God provided us with diverse forms of
transportation to reach our destination. This included cars, a ferry, a cement truck, the train, a bus, a motorcycle, a tram and a little bit of bus 11 (which means walking).
Arriving in Taichung:
We arrived in Taichung on Day 1 11 O'clock at night. Very tired we started to look for a place to sleep for the night. We ended up sleeping inside the train station's bus terminal. Woken up at 5 in the morning the next day we were off to wherever God leads us. We decided to start walking to Taichung Park. It is across the street from this park where we found the place that God had in mind for us: ABBA LOVE CHURCH. We spent some time in Taichung Park waiting for the church to open and at 06:20 that morning we met the first people who would play a big part in the rest of our story.
Meeting the characters:
All of these people had a role to play in our story and as we later heard their testimonies we humbly realised that if God makes your paths cross you also have an impact on their lives – even if we only spent an hour with certain people.
God providing:
God's provision is always a big part of any Luke 10 testimony. His provision also stretches much further and than just the physical, He also provides spiritually.
We were so blessed in this time and can testify of not missing one meal – in contrary we always had to much food. After sleeping in the train station a homeless women even bought us some tea. We received clothes, and stayed in two rooms with 'Mama', a Chinese lady from the church.
Ministry during our time at the church:
During our time there our ministry varied from physical labour to spiritual fellowship. We spent mornings in a 2 hour bible study and our afternoons were spent painting the church, painting Mama's house, handing out tracts or helping with admin. Evenings were spent in prayer meetings, youth group meetings or spending some time with the people of the church. We performed a drama in church on Sunday and gave a short message. We also visited some house churches where we had the opportunity to share our testimonies together with a message.
The unseen:
This is the difficult part to put into pictures or words – Spending time with God and growing in your relationship with Him. Indescribable...
This is our story. Both the 'seen' and the 'unseen' form part of the many pages of
our Luke 10 book. It has been such a privilege to be a part of every page and every chapter. All the glory to the author – GOD
