The Holy task of cleaning!

2 Chronicles 29 tells how the first thing Hiskia did to restore the country was to clean out the temple - this cleaning was not only to remove what was impure, but also to literally take a very dirty temple, and clean it out. This is something I've learned throughout this year and once again during our first week in Egypt: What a glorious, holy task cleaning is to God. This was the first thing He placed on the heart of a king who sounght out His will!

Cleaning can be seen as an insignificant job, but in both Luke 16:10 and Zechariah 4:10, the Word teaches us not to overlook the small things, but rather be faithful therein. Even though these two passages were written in the context of money and building, it teaches us something about the glory God gives to small things - even though it may seem insignificant to people.

It may seem a lot more holy to spent heaps of time in Bible study and prayer, but maybe the job God has for me today is to clean, or something even more "insignificant" and dirty. The joy therein is found in doing even that as if I work for God and not for people (Eph. 6).

I'll try cleaning much more often, for every single time this year I did it for someone else, I experienced a little of God's joy and glory in it. Still, only now I realize what big part it can be of the learning, adventurous, exciting, He-knows-best, LIFE CHANGING journey every child of God is called to!! This "small" thing taught me some of life's greatest lessons. Try it ... it might just change your life too!
