I want to testify of God’s goodness during our time in the Amazon and how He planned a divine appointment for us here in Iquitos.
Our original plan was to travel from Iquitos to our contact in Benjamin Constance in Brazil’s side of the Amazon, but He had different plans. Before arriving in Iquitos we have been praying about our time in the Amazon and staying here (Iquitos) a few days to see where we can assist with recent floods the. So as we arrived in Iquitos the plan was to split the team in 2, half would stay in Iquitos and the other half will make their way to Benjamin Constance.
We were in Iquitos for barely an hour, when God sent us our man of peace. A guy approached us while sitting in the park and immediately when he heard what we are doing got in contact with the pastor of his church. Within minutes we met the youth pastor of the church and they took us in.
From there on we were in their hands. They immediately arranged that we stay in a missions’ house for free, that we will eat breakfast and lunch at the pastor’s house every day and our program for our time here.
That same night we went out with the youth of the church to evangelise on the streets. The next few days we went to schools to do dramas and shared with the students who Jesus is and what God’s heart are for them. One school we visited is currently closed and the class rooms are used for flood victims that lost their homes. We also had the privilege to hand out food for people affected in the floods.
So our plans was to see if we can build house for people, but again God had something else in store for us. It has been a privilege to be part of God’s plans here in Iquitos. Even though we came to serve the people, it has been inspiring to see youth so Spirit filled and on fire for God. This encouraged us again for what we are doing this year and in that God restored our joy again.
Every since we got to Iquitos God has been speaking to me about clean hands and pure a pure heart before Him. As a team we also had to come before God again and cleanse our hands, hearts and minds before God.
Also every time we would ask God what to share with His people He gave us the same Words: “Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded - James 4:8b.” And also “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to and idol nor sworn deceitfully.” As a team we also had to come before God again and cleanse our hands, hearts and minds before God.
I want to leave you with those scriptures, may God show each of you the things with holding you from Him and making your hands, hearts and even minds dirty.
