From dusty towns to snowy mountain tops

dsc01306.jpgFrom noodles to chopsticks, from "squatters" to cold showers, from dusty towns to snowy mountain tops...they all form part of the experience of a lifetime.

From our first day in China I realized one thing: this is going to be different. Like nothing I've ever experienced before. God challenged us from the very first day through to the very last day. We had the opportunity to face the challenge of a 24-hour prayer chain that continued for a couple of days, combined with a day of fasting. During this time I realized the true value of prayer and witnessed the effect of intercession on a community. We experienced a community going from hard and cold to warm and friendly, within a couple of days.

The orange team had the great experience of teaching at middle schools. We got to interact with the students, sing songs, play games, dance and play basketball. The teachers were magnificent and God arranged some divine appointments for us where we got to share the Gospel.

We had a great time at the debrief session, and it was exciting to hear everybody's stories and experiences. We took on the challenge of the 35-hour train journey back to Macau where we camped at Hac Sa Beach, and continued the debrief. The day after we arrived, we were surprised with a challenge! What a great way to see Macau! Yet again! The camping started out great...nice weather and the ocean...and turned into a typhoon! Again God had His hand in divine appointments and provided us with accommodation for two nights with the greatest couple...they were truly a blessing from God!

We spent a great day in Hong Kong...from visiting the zoo to watching the light symphony from a ferry. We spent the night at the airport, awaiting our flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

There were numerous occasions where we had to rely on God to hep us out. And each time He faithfully helped us out. My time in China can be summarised by the following...learning the true value of prayer and faith. From personal experience I can testify that prayer is the answer to all your problems. I'm forever thankful to God for all the challenges He sent along our way, that enabled us to rely on Him and to grow spiritually.

God bless,

Elzet
