Masaailand

Wow, what a fun and exciting time we had! This was probably the most rural and cultural EA has ever been… We drove for hours through land where there’s nothing, and then finally, you could see little red dots moving amongst goats or sheep every now and then… this was it, we’d finally reached Masaailand.

We were in for an amazing two weeks in the middle of nowhere, in the company of real Masaai, not the tourist package, safari tour villages, but real people, with real lives and daily doings. Our hosts where a fantastic SA/British family of 5 who just warmly accepted and welcomed us and integrated us into the daily on goings immediately. From beading with the Masaai ladies, to digging foundations, to going to the little school, and to cooking for visitors, every moment was special! We where so privileged to see a culture unchanged by western influence, but woven together(for a few) with the realization of God’s love for them. And for the team, from hearing the leopard growl just outside our tents in the evenings, to having to be on the watch for elephant and buffalo as we walk, to standing on the edge of the Rift Valley looking out over thousands’s of Kilometer’s, Masaailand changed something in us, and proved to us once again God’s love for each of these isolated and beautiful people.

Lots of love,

EA
