Challenge 2.5 in Malaysia

Yes Yes we had another challenge in Malaysia. It was amazing as usual and really joined forces with the locals to finish the tasks as soon as possible, and when I say locals I really mean locals.

As most of you know me an JohanB was blessed to travel back to Malaysia in order to help the local church community with some IT problems they are experiencing. It came at the right time since we had to be out of Thailand on the third of April and we receive the good news on the 31 st of March. This gave us a good day (1st of April) to organize the travel arrangements and get packed to leave on the second of April.

It was one of those sad days since we really had to say good bye to Thailand and more we had to say good bye to the south bound group even if it is just for 2 weeks. And saying 2 weeks we already miss all of you in south bound :)

Yes we started our travels very early on the second and caught bus after bus to finish up in Malaysia on the third of April. We had no trouble at the border and God even provided us with good connections to help the rest of the south bound when it is their time to take the trip back to Malaysia to join us.

Back to the challenge. So yes on arrival we receive word that it is our hosts sons birthday and that we are needed in helping to run around and keep an eye out for the safety of the children during the race. Most of them never used public transport and some of the parents was a bit scared but felt better after knowing that the race was properly planned and that we will be there to help if something went wrong.

Unlike our challenges we actually had a brief beforehand but only on the rules and the fact that there will be a race. We also received the race details at breakfast. Surprisingly the boys was up and ready for the race in 17 minutes. Eaten, showered, packed and ready outside for the taxi that was arranged to take us to the train station.

Riding the train was strange since this was the time when they turned to us and started to us questions on how and what to do, but since we are only there for the safety it made them think outside the box. Getting at out destination we had to get some facts etc of the twin towers again and was surprisingly quick to go up the towers. Afterwards we had smaller things to do but allowed for just enough running around to get all of us tired.

We had to get tree names, visit the Aquaria, the science shop, buy some snacks, weight someone at a public scale, run around a 1.3 km track, take photos of various things and count bottles in a shop window. There was also bonus tasks.

When the race was done it was the ORANGE team that came out victors and the blue team short on their heals. A well deserved swim afterwards was in order.

On Sunday we joined the locals at church and it is surprisingly different if there is no pastor and just the members running the worship and the service but yet it was as if it was organized. A discussion group afterwards enriched the service to a deeper fulfillment.

We are ready now for the weeks work that lay ahead and with the contacts build up at the church service wee are even more excited to start the work in Malaysia.

Miss you a lot south bound

Henri
