Belize and it’s many blessings

How God took a screensaver and made it our reality, just because we were content.

Belize... what an adventure! After Guatemala, we had no idea where we should go, but what we didn’t know was that God made a plan a long time ago. Our whole team felt at peace about going to Belize. A week before we left for Belize Geoff prayed and got a name: Rebecca. He searched the streets of Panajachel for Rebecca without any luck. It was not until Pastor Ben told us about his friend in Belize, with the name Rebecca, when we realized that Belize is exactly where we should go. We took the bus in faith, knowing that we are going further away from Panama, and we only had limited funds. But God is always faithful on journeys of faith.

We met Rebecca, and what a beautiful daughter of God we found. We found out that just by being there we confirmed a lot of questions she had about her future, and we could really encourage her in the ministry. They blessed us with a place to stay for a week, food and a lot of ministry opportunities and a whole community of love to share. And the best part of it – most of the people in Belize understands English. I never would’ve thought that I’m actually glad that America had some influence somewhere! We fell completely in love with the kids who had so much love to share. During the week we hosted and created a kids show on the radio called Jeffy and Zetty and it was a big hit! I am so shocked at how much kids pay attention to – we should really stop treating them as kids because they know much more than we think!

The weekend we spent there was a Harvest Weekend, meaning church services from Thursday till Sunday. Now here is the unbelievable part – they allowed us to preach the whole weekend. We, a few young men and women of God, with no degree in bible studies at all, only taught by the Holy Spirit, strangers to these people – we had a chance to really minister to the community, and God blessed the services so much! We came to Belize, content with eating only oats for a week, just because of a word of God, and God came and blessed us more than we could imagine, and the best part is, we could take our box of oats to San Pedro, for we never ate one bite of oats in Bullet tree falls.

San Pedro was everything we dreamt a Caribbean island would be like : warm clear blue water with white beaches, hundreds of coconut trees standing around with locals that actually speak like the real Rasta farriers do : ¨Ja man!¨

The church that made it possible for us to come was in a dilemma. The bank paid for their mortgage and was taking back the pastors house. They had no church, but they had a piece of land, where they had their meetings. The bank allowed them to use the house for one more week, just so that we could stay there. Our hearts nearly broke when they refused to let us pay for anything, even water, but rather they served us in everything. We evangelized on the beaches, and it was quite interesting to hear the stories of many of the Rasta people. We were blessed to go snorkeling at the barrier reef next to the island when a holiday resort (another one of YWAM´s bases) invited us to spend a day there, fellowshipping with other missionaries.

The term suffer for Christ got a whole new meaning – because God won´t change His promises of blessing you if you first search for His Kingdom. And what´s even more of a blessing, is our ride back to Panama. As I told you previously, we didn´t even have enough money to afford a bus ticket from Costa Rica to Guatemala. Well, Belize to Panama is even further, and we had limited time to get there because we needed a whole week to apply for our India visas. And as we learnt in the previous hitch hike, it takes a lot of strength and time to make it to your destination, and this distance would´ve taken about 10 days to travel. So we prayed and in faith we browsed the web. And as always, God just came through.

Our awesome Father in heaven, the church is Bullet tree falls and a few other donations we got, and a very fortunate find on the Internet made a solution possible… we were flying to Panama!!! Our whole team was excited about spending another week with Pastor Bill in Panama, and now we had the chance! God is always faithful, in the big and little things!!! So we had a great time in San Pedro, and we also had the chance to pray and preach in the church and helped with the foundations of the brand new church!!! It was such a blessing to see the Caribbean, and to see places that we could only dream about. God knows our hearts. We also had a good time to rest after Guatemala, and we are now preparing for our Luke 10 journey which begins on the 14th of August.
