Rivers in the thirsty land

So Niger is really, really, really hot... It's like you are permanently in an oven, enclosed and overwhelmed by the heat... or so it felt! Well noramal day temperatures was a dry 38-43 degrees celcius in the shade. And it's not even the peak temperatures for the season. At night we sleep outside and pray that there would be no clouds... because the clouds do not contribute in bringing relief in the greenhouse effect over the country. Eish! That was the closest to desert-temperatures I ever got in my entire life! And there's people who loves that...

Amidst the heat and dryness, I believe Father really wants to release His River of Living Water. Like the Niger River flows, careless about the heat, through this sun-scorched land, the Islamic opression and dryness of the human-hearts, really does not prevent Father from birthing refreshing new life in desert hearts. What a thirst we could see in the desert dweller's - the touareg's - hearts. A thirst for belonging, for life, for Truth, for Rivers! So if nothing else, may we have brought a release of the Living River in their lives...

Niger needs the River and the River is coming!

What a privilege to see God work in a miss understood people group like the Tuareg (Originally called "Tuareg" - Abandoned by God, because they would not accept the Islamic faith) May they once again be the "free people" they call themselves, because they have found salvation. No better evangelist than a nomad tribe ;-)
