The beginning of my Journey!

Back into my history...

I grew up in a loving family which consist of my dad- Kobus, mom- Liza and sister- Danelle. I couldn't ask for more, Mom and Dad worked hard all their live to provide for me and my sister, wish they would retire and have time to enjoy life. Anyway I always knew the Lord, in the way most people know Him. He exist and I went to Church but never had a relationship with Him. I was in the world, experimented with everything and lived to have fun and to see how far boundaries can be pushed. Because of me, Mom and Dad got grey hair way to early..

A deep longing for the Lord came a few month's before I was reborn, the Holy Spirit was planted and someone was giving it water. Myself and a friend- Martin, knew if we continue living this way we won't be going long before it's game over. I was reborn on 7 September 2008, at the age of 23 on a camp for Men together with Martin. The Lord came into my live and completely took over. As accountability partners Martin and myself kept each other on the thin road.

To be a part of Global Challenge has been in my heart for 5 years, through the years it became a dream- a goal, as I focused on my studies. Then my career got priority, I was working my way up the food chain, always looking for more. Until mid August 2011 when the Lord gave me an opportunity to go and work in Zambia- this was it, adventure, the unknown and a way out of the norm.

On 9 January 2013 the Lord said: "Jaco the time is now!" I phoned Charmaine at 7 o'clock- apologised for the early call and gave her my testimony. She mailed the application form through, I rushed to the office, completed it (not that easy while in a rush;) and mailed it back to her. At 14:00 she phoned, said CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to the team!! O my word the joy was overwhelming- sure the guy in the bakkie with me was deaf for a while..

I finally took the step of FAITH, knowing His timing is perfect! An hour later I resigned, prayed that the Lord would make it possible for me not to work my month's notice. 2 days later I flew back to South Africa with blessings from co workers. Of course there was a few hiccups to overcome before joining the team- but in the end it was inevitable, on 23 January 2013 I joined Global Challenge for training in Jeffery's.

Thus the beginning of my Journey or new life as I like to call it, begun.

Been in training for 4 weeks now, more on that later... How can I put it into words, as words can't describe the community of believers in Jeffreys; Global Challenge staff, the amazing volunteers (I now understand why you stay and do it!), the 35 individuals who obeyed the Lord and came to go out and minister around the world, our Distant World family of 11, our team leaders and above all the Trinity- God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

My live has changed in the past 4 weeks and I get the feeling (OK I actually know) this is the beginning of much more than imaginable, YEAH!! All glory to You Lord!!!!

Bless us in the Luke 10 journey- tomorrow till Sunday, we trust in You to provide, protect, work in people's hearts and help us to trust in You alone
