Global Challenge Missions Blog Archive: These are real blogs, from real people, bringing real change...

After SOME time...

After a long time of no blogs from my side, one is finally going up again!
Today is our last day in Panajachel. Tomorrow we embark on our Luke 10 journey from here in Guatemala to go and see if we can reach Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica with no funds.

After a lot that has happend in my life I decided not to write a blog about Croatia simply because I could not put it into words! It was wonderful, yet horrible. It was so good for me, but it took so much from my side. It was one of the most difficult times this year, but it was also one of the times I learned the most!
We have spent the past five weeks in Panajachel working with a local pastor, rebuilding peoples homes. We stayed on the one work site (the first week we were without water, which was quite fun!) but me, PJ and Vicky were asigned to a small site down the road. It was about a 4 m X 5 m area witch was to be a lady and her four children s new home since she had left her alcoholic husband. It was a huge challenge working in confined spaces and our building sand on the site was loaded with surprises from the familymembers children in the neighboring houses!    Before
After

te was a old house that we started to restore as a house for missionarys to come and stay while visiting the area.

The last week of ministry here we whent over the lake on a boat with a lot of equipment!!! We had a challenge. A lady was being evicted from her house with her four children and we only had a couple of days. After braking her shed down we moved it over to the new site and started building. 4 Days later we had a new house with a bathroom and a coverd working space! We had a couple of mishaps ( including me almost falling through the roof and the pastor falling through the roof the next day!!!) But after some personal funding we where able to give her the house in record time! I learned how to build a wooden shed, put up a roof, take down a roof and how to lay a floor!

last week we have been resting and preparing ourselves for the comming three weeks! I have been blessed to have found a home away from home with the amazing people at crossroads cafe here in Pana!
After intense spiritual feeding the last couple of weeks one cannot help but be so charged and ready for action in the spiritual battles, but there is still the little bit of uncertainty, but I guess it is normal seeing as how we are starting tomorrow with no money, one pair of extra clothes and a tooth brush for three weeks travelling in foreign countrys with nothing but God. the fact that God is there is a huge relief (I dont know if I would have done this thing, or this year, without Him!)

So as you can see our next three weeks are going to be intense and therefore we ask you to keep praying! And then to pray some more!! We really need it! And we really notice the difference this side!
Thank you for your prayers so far!
I hope this will encourage some to rely more on God, even in the every day living things!
May this be a blessed three weeks for every one!
Thank you!
Janus

I'm so glad you guys stepped out in faith and did this Luke 10 journey. Meeting you on the bus was a huge blessing; it was the kick in the backside that God was needing to give me for some time. When we walk in faith and are obedient to the Spirit, God uses us for amazing things.

Prayers and blessings for your remaining weeks!
