India continued...

Well, the last time I emailed you, we were on our way to the Taj Mahal...What an experience! It is a beautifull place! Very interesting and facinating to see! After that we went to a marble shop where they showed us howe they made the marble things, very interesting. But it is only after that that the fun/chaos started! We drove 5hours to the train station in Delhi to take a train on our way to the Himalayas... A train experince in India... now that is something that I can write a book about! It is CRAZY! People everywhere, sitting, sleeping. When you wake up, you should not be surprised to see someone lying almost next to you! So finally we arrived in Jammu (by the grace of God!). Well you see, a few days before that, it has not snowed in the mountains, which would have been a problem because then we cant ski. So then we prayed for snow...and what happended...it snowed like crazy! The pass was closed for 3 days! So... on the day we arrived, tha pass was open again, but it meant that 3 days of trucks, taxis and bikes had to go through the pass!! CRAZY!! In stead of a 10 hour drive, we drove for 30 hours on 350km!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We almost died, that was REALLY REALLY BAD! But, the end result was beautifull... Switzerland in India!! The ski-resort (Gulmarg) was beautifull!! We did some skiing, bobsledding, shopping (of course!) and on the last day, when we woke up it started to snow!!! It was perfect! Really cold (-15degrees at night!!), but perfect! That snow on the last day, was really the cherry on the top!! Gulmarg has the highest ski slope in the world and has a gholf course too! Well, as we learned by now, that nothing always goes smoothly in India... Our flight back to Delhi was delayed for 7hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was insane! You could only laugh! What sucked was that we missed the kids' Christmas play! But luckilly we arrived in time for the giving of the presents. The look on the kids' faces was something that I would never forget. They were ssoo excited and happy! And the thing that broke my heart was that, the bags of sweets they got, they kept on giving it away to others! They have nothing, and when they do have something, they just want to share it!!! A lesson for us all!!
