Why do I doubt?

Our team set out on a Luke 10 journey from Guatemala to Mexico for 10 days. Without any team or personal money we trusted God to provide for everything from food, water, accommodation etc.

God was more than faithful and looking back I stand in awe of Gods work. He protected us the whole way, provided safe places to sleep, food to eat or a ride to the next town. I can tell you about our whole trip from day 1, but I would rather like to share about one incident that changed my dependency on God forever.

As we arrived on the Mexico border we were informed that our Mexican visas had expired and we had to return to Guatemala City to re-apply. Hitch-hiking all the way back, not having anything to eat and arriving on the airport exhausted, just to hear we can not sleep there, was a tough one. The only thing we could do was pray and ask Gods guidance. We prayed for 3 specific things: a Place to stay, food to eat and guidance as we re-apply for our Mexican visas the next day. Just as amazing as God is, He provided in all 3 requests IMMEDIATELY! The Airport security allowed us to sleep there, although they were closed for the night and one lady blessed us with USD25. As McDonalds was closing we asked for their left-over food. Instead, the staff bought each of us a meal for they were afraid we might get sick from the left over food. They bought the meals from their personal money. How amazing is our God!

As we received the meal and the money I broke into tears and was overwhelmed by Gods greatness. I was lost for words and could not ever pray to thank God. How in the world can I doubt God and think that He will not look after me and provide for me. After all we have been through on Luke 10, how can I doubt? Why do I rather look to men than God for provision, whether physically or spiritually? If God can provide for all our needs and even spoiling us with ice-cream because He knew each of us by heart, why do I doubt?

I always knew in my mind and read in scripture that God will provide, but after our Luke 10 journey it became part of my heart. I not only think God will provide, I know it!

ALL THE GLORY TO OUR AWESOME GOD!
