Expect the unexpected

In Nepal Northbound divided into two groups : purple and turquoise. Arno, Willemien, Miga, Vanessa and Jade are in the purple team, and this blog is about what we as small team experienced.

God sent us to a family that supports an orphanage with 15 boys. Due to a medical operation the host underwent, they could give as much of their attention to us, so we supported them instead. By supporting them God taught us how to bless people with kindness and care.
Just before Nepal God gave Jade and Arno word: "expect the unexpected," and did He surprise us every day!

Our ministry had a few arms to it, all of which we enjoyed very much!
Our contact and her family planned a full program for us, but after the husband's operation God told them that we are coming to rest. So they canceled all the plans they made for us. Can you believe that? God wants us to have a vacation in Nepal. Of course not literally, but our time was truly one of recovery.

We decided that we want to do street ministry and spent time with the boys at the orphanage. At the orphanage we played a lot of board games, chess, table tennis, soccer and a few other running games. They took us to climb almost 500 stairs up against a hill for a little adventure. We held picnic at a river and afterwards watched films while eating a lot of popcorn and drinking masala tea.
We cannot really compare the orphanage in India with the one in Nepal, but at both we enjoyed the children and God used us by us spending time with them. As team we agreed that we could spend more personal time with the boys in Nepal because they are a lot less children than in India.

Our third ministry was street ministry.
In the mornings we went out into the streets of Nepal. God placed it on our hearts to really intercede for Kathmandu. So the Holy Spirit led us to where he wants us to go every morning and during that time we had amazing encounters with local people and flavored, and also the spiritual warfare that is going on around us. God strengthened our unity through this.
During the street ministry we met our fourth ministry... A man at a badminton court. He is a Hindu man and we had the opportunity to spend time at his house. God used us to listen to his story. Although we did not speak a lot, but I believe that He needed someone just to listen, and I feel honored to be able to give him the chance to speak and share.

We got the opportunity to pray at different temples in the area of Kathmandu. God taught us how to pray in times of darkness around us. It is really eye opening to realize how one can feel the darkness in places like that.

Our twelve days in Nepal were blessed.
God surprised us a lot with little things like tea at random places and big things like Him providing food for our whole stay in Nepal. He blessed us with grocery items worth more than what we ever could afford. Rice, pasta, meat, spaghetti, juice, chocolates, cookies and many more. All that our hearts desired when we walked through the supermarket.

Nepal is beautiful and God spoiled us a lot, I believe that He wanted us to rest in Him so that we will be able to work with even more focus and dedication in the countries to come.
