India, what a shocker!

If I think about all the thoughts I had about India previously, not one of them comes close to what I am currently experiencing...

I have never seen such poverty and polution in my life before.  here are so many people, I can't describe it in words and I am stund by everything here.  If you think the trafic in S.A. is bad, come to India.  You can't imagine how the trafic is here.  If anybody ever again moans about the trafic back home, I'll get a fit.  Everybody lives for themselves here and here it is realy about the survival of the fittest.  There are so many people, young and old, living in the streets, sleeping under plastic bags and if they want to go to the toilet they do it just there on the spot! Every 5 min a small child comes and beg for money if you go to the towns.  At first I got very depressed because it feels as if my hands are cut of to do anything becuase the need in this country for all the resources are indescribable.

The drive from the airport to the motel thingwe slept in the first night is a drive I'll never forget in my life.  I come from Jo'burg so I thought I knew what traffic is, but there is no word for what we saw that day! Every road-rule in this country doesn't count for much and every vehicle I saw had a bump our a broken window.  The people bent their spieels back against the cars because it will be smashed. Like I mentiuoned we slept at a motel and the next day we went with a train from centre delhi to dwarka, a suburb or something o f delhi. Delhi is one of the largest cities I 've ever seen and it is the capital city of India.  The metro railways and trains are first-world standards and it is very different from the sort of life the people live in India.

We went by riksjas to the orphinage. When we arrived we were welcomed with a cheer by the children.  The Lord showed me alot of His caracter and heart in this time we are here and for me to see a smile when one interact with the kidz is amazing. This kidz don't have a lot in this world but they are so joyfull of the fact that the Lord loves them.  Every living Christian can learn from this kidz how to pray and how to stand firm in the Lord.  The orphinage is in a bad condition without running water at the moment.  We will do our best in the next few day to make things better where we can.  We bought a pump and pipes to get a water system running that there can just come water out of there taps.  We are also painting the building and help where we can.

Pray for the children here. They don't have parents or anybody where they can go to. In their society they are at the bottom of the cass-system and some animals are seen as more important than them. The vission of the orphinige is that there must be a million churches planted by the orphins in India.  Pray for this vision and pray that they will feel and experience God's love for them.

Pray for our team for strengh and unity and also for wisdom for alot of circumstances where we will work and be involved in. Pray for the Christmas-play that the orphins going to present and for us who must teach it to them. Pray also for the leadership of the orpinage that they will do Go's will.

Blessings!

Phil
