MEXICO & Co

Mexico was a big fiesta. We arrived without planning food and accommodation, but ended up having an air conditioned bedroom and a huge dish of tacos the first night. Our man of peace was a passport control official when we found out that he’s a pastor, inviting us to a conference at his church that evening. We took a taxi straight from the airport to the conference, arrived with our luggage, dropped it in an office and joined the fiery congregation.
We were taken in by a man and his wife, Armando and Milly and little did we know that they would be hosting us for the next two weeks in Cancún, the tourist hub of Mexico.

Our team was so blessed by this family and their community- we tasted traditional cuisine, had mega sized pizzas and were cooked for by friends. Our biggest ministry in Mexico was helping to build their church. We helped putting the roof together, we painted the bathrooms and the hall and helped organizing the terrain and cleaning up around the building. I have never been so full of paint in my life! But there was a twist to this project… these Mexicans work during the night to escape the scorching heat of daytime. Usually they start late afternoon, have dinner at 1am and finish in the early morning hours.

The three things that were on our hearts for Mexico was youth, prayer and healing. We played sports with the youth on weekends  and had connection groups during the week. We did a hospital visit and saw healing coming over ill bodies. We laid hands on the sick and prayed for the church members according to each individual’s needs.

A testimony of the healing power of the Spirit was when I prayed for a lady at the hospital’s emergency room. She had inflammation in her knee and I could see that it was swollen. With my broken Spanish and her broken English I introduced myself, found out what her name was and what was bothering her. I prayed for healing and released it over her in the name of Jesus. She thanked me and got up, walking perfectly out of the waiting room without seeing the doctor.

Mexico brought me into an intimate place with God where I could really see the power of the Holy Spirit at work.
