Sitting on the back of the Hilux pick up (bakkie -afrikaans) I am often wondering why am I in this godforsaken desert?
Where day time temperatures hit 40 degrees Celsius, and in the night it cools down to 27, maybe 26 degrees Celsius (we were told that the hottest period lies still ahead in April and May). And the fine dust just choke the life out of you.
Just to have the Lord answering me " I am busy in this desert"
I was challenged by the Lord to focus on what He is doing in this country:
• Providing food and water for millions of people daily.
• Drawing people unto Him.
Only Jesus can work in these conditions, no man can make it rain, or make a plant grow. No man can change any of the circumstances.
I just stood amazed when I heard the testamonies of the christians we met, and hearing the miracles the Lord is doing in their lives.
Indeed the Lord is working in Niger, how could I think that the Lord was working in one place and not in another, is He not the Omnipotent Omnipresent God?
I found out that Jesus is introducing Himself to people, through the lives of the christians (being persecuted). Adding the people one at a time to His kingdom.
Niger, the kingdom of God is at hand.
"And heal the sick in it and say to them, The kingdom of God has come close to you." (Luke 10:9 AMP)
"And the Lord God prepared a gourd and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his evil situation. So Jonah was exceedingly glad [to have the protection] of the gourd. But God prepared a cutworm when the morning dawned the next day, and it smote the gourd so that it withered. And when the sun arose, God prepared a sultry east wind, and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah so that he fainted and wished in himself to die and said, It is better for me to die than to live. And God said to Jonah, Do you do well to be angry for the loss of the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die! Then said the Lord, You have had pity on the gourd, for which you have not labored nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night. And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons not [yet old enough to] know their right hand from their left, and also many cattle [not accountable for sin]?" (Jonah 4:6-11 AMP)

Thanx for the honesty Louis. Niger is not for the faint hearted, but definitely high on God's radar. My the fruit of your prayers (and sweat) be seen by teams to come.
Yes, Niger belongs to Jesus!
