Desert wanderings in Jordan

Desert wanderings in Jordan
So we started our Jordan trip with a very easy border crossing that put us in Mafraq about 2 hours earlier than anyone expected. Once again we got very few and basic questions at the border and gave them honest answers and said some things we probably should not say. We started our ministry at …. and that concluded our time of ministry in Jordan. We had the privilege of being donated some money to go traveling in Jordan and we used it to go to Wadi Rum and a few places along the way for our last days in...

The random and radical

The random and radical
To say the last 2 ish weeks of training was interesting is as bit of an understatement. But training is done and I am getting the last of my things together since we are lifting of on Tuesday 5 March, so exciting times. "Short" ordered account Training went into the focus on the Holy Spirit with Oom Gerrie coming to visit us. I was excited and scared before we started since I always saw "radical" Holy Spirit experiences as a bit weird, but wanted to know more. Dr Gerrie van den Haas is a medical doctor, but is walking in...

So find below is a few stories/ranting/realisations, major and minor, profound and funny. Identity Thank God for establishing more and more of my identity in Him. Amazonas

Amazonas
I made a video of my Sao Paulo, but have trouble uploading so you will need to wait a bit for that update. Sao Paulo Airport experience: The flight from Sao Paulo was very early and the airport far out of the city and this meant that we had to sleep the night in the airport. This was the teams first sleep in airport experience (but not the last). At about 2 am 2 guys from Chile ended up at our corner looking for help. Since Luiza in our team is from Brazil she offered her help and I went...

Going higher Turkey

Going higher Turkey
Turkey update 1 ended with us about to leave Kusadasie. We wanted to go to Cappadocia, but we did not really have the finances for that and I felt for a while that we need to do a hitch hike in Turkey I decided now is the time. The only problem was that I was under a slight misunderstanding of where exactly Cappadocia was in Turkey. I thought it was about 100km from where we were at the sights of the old city of Colosse and Laodicea, but in fact it was about 700km away not at Colosse. This I...

the first blog

Update time out of J-Bay and my first official blog So the journey started Friday afternoon with checking in and meeting 30ish new faces and trying to remember their names. Saturday was largely spend on an amazing race like challenge in and around J-Bay, it was fun and i even got into the ocean and on a surfboard. At the moment we are still doing a lot of orientation and introductory stuff and have a lot of free time to get to know each other a bit better, but tomorrow the fun start when we are going somewhere to help...

Crazy Guatemala

Crazy Guatemala
Were to begin, where to begin...... Our time in Guatemala was spent on a few very different things and so much happened that I can not give a chronological exposition of our time there, but broke it into pieces, from the crazy to me (with me of course the least crazy :P ) Triking Triking, where to begin... The best description that I can give is that you take a bike; grind off the back end; weld a round steel bar to the back with a rod and two small wheels with no traction in it and try to fit...

Day in the life of practical missions

Day in the life of practical missions
6h15       – Grudgingly wake up. 6h25       - Get out of bed and go on Pokémon  Go inspired morning run (and ironically hatched and Slowpoke, I think my phone is trying to tell me something). 7h00       - Make a quick breakfast and the more important coffee, back into bed, quite time. 7h40       - Get out of bed again, into work clothes, bathroom break, onto bicycle and of to the building site I go. 8h15       - Start work, painting wall what can only be described as Hulk green. I like painting. 10h30    - Coffee break. 11h00...

What? Where? Kosovo

What? Where? Kosovo
What is Kosovo So before I start this update, please let me first share a bit about Kosovo. Kosovo is almost their own independent country, they used to be part of Serbia and in 2008 they declared independence, but since Russia that has a veto vote in the UN does not recognise them as an independent country they are still not fully independent, but under European Union curatorships. On top of that Turkey also claim that Kosovo is part of Turkey because of the battle of Kosovo in 1389 where the emperor of the Ottoman empire was assassinated and his...

Mexico to Guatemala

Mexico to Guatemala
Cancun airport We arrived in Cancun and got through immigration with no problems, we even went as far as to ask them about the required flight tickets out that we were forced to buy from Cubana air and were told that it is not true. We gathered our bags and went into the departures part of the airport to see if we can get someone from Cubana air to talk to, but the Cubana air ticket counter was closed. We settled in and went in search of a few things, info was helpful and told us that the Cubana air...
