A short testimony of what God is doing in my life, here in India…

A short testimony of what God is doing in my life, here in India…
We are serving at an orphanage in India at the moment. We are teaching the children, and also repainting their school. But while we are serving them, God is building into our own life’s… To each new country I go to, I go with a certain expectation or goal. Not a set plan, or a task driven schedule, but in the quit times that I sit with God. I ask Him for certain things to happen in the different counties we visit. My expectation or goal for India is to give myself unconditionally in any and in all ways. To...

86 Million orphans in India, a letter to Jesus from one of them

86 Million orphans in India, a letter to Jesus from one of them
We are currently serving at an orphanage in India. We are building into their lives by teaching. And this is a letter that one of my girls wrote on an assignment I gave them. Age 13 Too My Dearest Friend, Jesus, thank You for giving me this good wonderful day to send you a letter. I am so thankful to you. Jesus, why you are my light? Sometimes I can’t understand why you are my light? Now I understand when I read your Holy Scripture in John 8:12 and I come to know that, You are the light of my...

The People of the Himalaya

The People of the Himalaya
The road north, leads towards the mountains and it is long, narrow and winding.  The "horn honking" method of passing traffic and keeping safe echo's in my ear as a resounding gong. The billboards in Delhi describe the greatness and beauty of India and the strong words describe their passion for their country.  I have always referred to the traffic as incredible but when I reached the valley of the Himalayas I exclaimed; INDESCRIBABLE! The hills and valleys stretch as far as the eyes can see and its colors are arranged from; green to dark green, dark blue to grey and...

Coconut Communion

Coconut Communion
"Just keep your eyes on the horizon," was the advice I followed on the 3 hour ferry trip to Zanzibar. The boat kept on launching itself over big waves, tilting dangerously from side to side. Inside me my stomach was doing the same tilting and sloshing against the sides. It wasn't very pleasant to say the least. Today, after 11 days on the Island, I'm back in Dar Es Salaam after surviving another grueling ride. This time I kept my eyes on the TV in front of me and Jason Bourne whacking a few bad guys around.   But what...

Above All

It's sunrise in the Himilaya mountains, India. The sun is painting the clouds pink and is revealing mountain after mountain...silhoutted against the ever changing pink and red sky. The mountains are proudly displaying their incredible snow covered peaks.  As I'm looking in awe at the peaks, I am experiencing God's perfection and almighty power and above all...his amazing love. The mountains are huge, over 7000 m high, but so perfectly created, every detail perfect. It's overwhelming to think that the same God that has the power to create such incredible beauty, created us with the same perfect touch. We can't even...

Contacts in High Places

Contacts in High Places
Trevor, the photographer I worked with for years, only wore khaki, the green version of khaki. This was his brand, his style. And to finish off the colonial era explorer's look, he brandished a pith helmet in the same colour. We were in Gent, Belgium, reporting on a flower show for the magazine Garden and Home. People would look, point, and comment: "...Meester Leevingston..." Our editor asked explicitly for close ups of the Belgian King and Queen, the patrons of the flower show. I said ‘yes', as was my natural inclination. To find out later that that is easier said...
