Finding my identity in Jesus

So many times I have ask myself, Who am I?

A question I failed so many times to answer, but did I even think how important it really is to know who I am?

We are all longing for something in our lives and what we long for defines who we are.  So many times in life I have longed to be a person that is good and acceptable in the eyes of the world that I became someone God never intended me to be. I became someone that wanted to be apart of the world and all of its sinful nature.

After becoming a follower of Jesus I still had this question until the beginning of this year, it was a ordinary Sunday worship service and I just wept before Jesus, surrendering before Him. In a instance He wiped out all of the lies that the world had spoken over me. He cleaned my heart and showed me what real freedom in Jesus look like. He set me free.

We also read that in:

John 8:36

“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”

Jesus is the only one that can set us free indeed!

I soon realized that if I really want to know who I am, I need to long for Jesus and find my rest in Him. I also needed to listen so much more to hear what He is saying over my life!

In 1 Corinthians 1:30 Paul says:

“God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.”

‭‭

We can clearly see here that we are made right with God. He made us His sons through Christ Jesus. We are able to be part of His family and we are called His children. A child of the Almighty, living God!!! In Hebrews it says that Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers because we have the same Father. How AMAZING!!!

I realized that listening to what God says over my life, I can become who He says I am and that I only want to be who He says I am... I find my love and freedom in Jesus and no longer in the world because the world cannot give me that....
