wYw INDIA!!!

India

3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are living according to the truth.

In the beginning of March wYw made their way from Johannesburg through Cairo into Mumbai. Where we had the expensive privilege to go and pray at the local Emmanuel children’s home and school.  As God has it only two weeks later the pastor mails us and shares that, the piece of land that is so desperately needed for expanding the ministry and previously not for sale. Now it has been offered to them for $10g’s less than it is worth, with more than a year to raise the full amount. Wonderful.

Two nights on the train and a quick stop in Kota, to pick up Sony our star of India, we arrive in Delhi. We are courteously picket up in the strangest little TATA vehicle and driven to Emmanuel children’s home (ch), Chawala, New Delhi. Where we would spend the next 25 days (wonder if it’s a record?)

Arriving, we are cheerfully greeted by the more than 90 children that have anxiously awaited our arrival. Eagerly helping to pitch our tents we see the expectation to be loved in their eyes. We get to know the staff that look after the kids and treated to our first children’s home lunch. We are joined by the stunning Tannie Fielie the next day and 15 South Bounders (SB) the day after.

The daily routine of 5am prayer with the children, morning work, prayer before lunch, afternoon work, 5pm prayer before dinner and evening program soon set in. It took us about 3 days to get really going but with allot of guidance and encouragement from Tannie Fielie we managed to get there. And 3 weeks later we had cleaned and painted the girls and boy’s rooms, kitchen, front wall, a strip around the hall, front gate, coolers and the water tank. We restrung the washing lines, throe a concrete slab, sealed the roof and fixed various things.

Daily a team was responsible for teaching at prayer times, teaching the kids about basic spiritual disciplines. The word of God, prayer, relationships, faithfulness, fruit of the spirit, the Trinity, fivefold ministries, etc.  Making it practical for them to remember through song, drama or memory verses. My personal favourite being the hilarious puppet shows.

We had a very busy but fulfilling time at the children’s home and actually learning more than teaching. We learned to love the kids, love each other and most importantly love Jesus even more.

As we are travelling to Malaysia, the south Indian country side passing by our train window and the “chai guy’s”’ thousands cry for business. I can’t but not stop and think by myself, what an awesome God we serve and how privileged we are to be standing in His service.

With expectant hearts for what God is going to do next. We great you for now and bless you with, that we miss and love you all dearly.

Anthony and the wYw guys.

Very cool to read about your experience. I was there in August '09. What a blessing it was to serve Vipen and the children. Hopefully you had a chance to play soccar a few times. And of course a few spins on the merry-go-round. May you continue to be used by God to share his love with others.
